The B&W Exclusive Quality Control System
You've seen it happen. Your project rolls off the press and is carefully folded . . . only to land in a box that is tossed on a pallet. Boots move the box in place, and hands grip and turn the box and you know those crisp corners bend and fold. You can see the spoilage mount and the perfectly printed pieces will never fit through the bindery - that's why so many printers allow for so much waste.
B&W Press knows that printing is only part of your project.
For more than 40 years, B&W Press has tested several different pallet sizes and configurations for order form/envelopes, from standard to custom-built sizes, in an attempt to meet the diverse requirements of the more than 75 locations shipped to each week (2,200 destinations annually).
B&W packaging engineers designed a "bindery-friendly" pallet concept. All cartons are packed in the most efficient manner to eliminate curl and all of your project is packed facing in the same direction in the cartons. Large, easily removable lids are used to isolate and protect each layer of the product. These carefully crafted cartons help keep your project safe from moisture and damage, and assure delivery of the best quality inserts to the bindery.
B&W’s packaging system allows "total quality control" of the product. Codes, versions and quantities are clearly marked on all four sides of the cartons. Although rare, if there is a problem, the unique packaging method allows B&W to identify it. You will also note a series of numbers inside the envelope as unique coding system for each roll of product. This quality control method enables B&W to tell from production records:
What is in each carton
- When it was packed, by whom
- Exactly where it is on the pallet
- This helps to reduce bindery slowdowns in case of a problem.
Brick stacking on pallets is an industry standard considered to reduce the cost of corrugated - but that is not good enough! B&W considers total quality control most important. B&W bulk packs cartons by weight with dividers at the bindery to meet the requirements of the busiest and best catalog and magazine binderies and major lettershop mailers in the USA. The unique B&W process also ensure a total, box-by-box, roll-by-roll accounting of where your project is packaged.
B&W Press uses special easy-open cartons packed by weight to ensure consistent handling and count accuracy. Cartons are crush-proof, with an easily removable lid for smooth bindery operations. All cartons are stenciled on all four sides with address, contents, quantity, and weight.
Finished pallets are electronically batch counted to maintain the accuracy of the count. Pallets are auto stretch wrapped tightly to maintain stability.
These established procedures along with carton design assure the quality of your project as it speeds through the bindery.
B&W Press has been manufacturing products for secondary operations such as catalog print binderies, and letter-shops, for many years. B&W understands the need for special attention to packaging details.
